I am SOOOOOO mad right now! I gained 4 lbs in the last 2 days and I haven't cheated at all! I've drinken all my water, watched my sodium intake, stayed at my calories......
I was sick for 2 weeks and barely eat but I stoped losing in the second week, I was scared that when I started eating again I would gain but instead when I started eating again I lost again but now days later I'm gaining!!!
What gives??

    That time of month?
  • well you could have:
    -gained muscle
    - gotten close to your "time of month"
    - weighed yourself at a different time than normal

You've probably heard this a lot before, but it is more helpful to look at your measurements rather than your weight.

MY TOM is a week away so I don't think that's it, I haven't been workign out becasue I've beent o sick and I'm scared to over do it and end up back in bed. I always weigh myself first thing in the morning and did the same today, I'm not trying to be difficult I'm just so confused!
  • sounds like your body may be in a bit of a "starvation mode" . Since you didn't eat much when you were sick your body is protecting itself from being deprived and is holding on to everything you're eating to conserve energy. Keep eating on track and your body will get the message that all is ok and those pounds will start falling again. Patience is the key to weight loss, not panick!

Agree with this, when you were not eating all the stored Glycogen from your liver has been used so this will have been replaced by your body and some....some or part of the initial weight loss will have been 'false weight loss' ie not metabolised fat.

I only record my weight once per week and use those results as a reference for how I am doing. Weight fluctuates day to day, so it can be expected to increase for a couple days every now and then. It could be water retention, muscle mass, full stomach of whatever, it doesn`t really matter.

I take a peak inbetween my weigh-ins to see how I am doing, and if I see it's up a bit I use it as a motivator to make sure I get all my exercises in before my next weigh-in so I don`t have to record it.

Don`t let this short term result affect you, think big picture. You want to loose 4-8 lbs a month, a 2-3 day span isn`t a significant mesure of time to draw conculisions.
