I want to lose weight and be thinner in my mid-section are protein shakes something I should look into? Or can I exercise and eat my recommended calories and not get in to protein shakes and bars and whey products and all the other stuff out there?

I suggest a good whey protein with no sugar or low sugar. I use EAS and it only has 1gr of sugar. I like mine after a good workout.:drinker:

Protein shakes are out there to supplement your diet if you're not getting enough protein from other sources. Typically, many people that are exercising, lifting, running, etc, are not getting enough protein to ensure proper repair of muscle tissue. Thus, many turn to a protein shake to make sure they have sufficient protein to do that. Personally, I use Optimum Nutrition and it has VERY low carbs (3g).

However, protein shakes do not equate to weight loss.

Right now, I am using Star six whey protein, vanilla flavored, in the morning for breakfast. Very low on sodium, fat and calories. I make it for my wife and I just about every morning in our blender. Really good, and you can very your intake yourself.
    My Recipe is:
    2 cups 1% Milk
    1 med banana
    1 tbs. creamy peanut butter
    1 level scoop of powder
some ice for texture and thickness

Makes two servings about 300 calories, 20 grams of protein, 100 mgs of sodium, i forget the rest, but they are low, and is very filling, I dont get the urge to eat or snack until lunch time or later.
