Getting back on track!

Hi, I'm not new to fitness and weight loss, but I need a refresher and this site is a great place for accountability and to find support and inspiration! I'm turning 50 this year and I want to be in the best shape and health of my life. I love life and want to live it for a long time. My family is my greatest inspiration and I love the fact that my sons like to include me in their adventures, such as indoor rock wall climbing. My dad who recently turned 70 took up downhill skiing after retirement which inspired me to hit the slopes for the first time in 24 years. My mom is a retired aerobics instructor! So.. like I said they inspire me. A few years ago I took up weight training, and clean eating and it made a huge difference in my life. After suffering the loss of my beloved mother in law two years ago, I hit a wall and my workouts and eating habits suffered as a result. I gained 10 lbs and my energy level dropped a lot. Slowly I am getting back to my old self and I know she'd want it that way.
I work from home and that can be isolating, so I look forward to having some fitness pals here. I tend to do too much; I work full time, recently got back into horseback riding, volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, also enjoy knitting with a local group, and I attend a once a month book club. Oh and I have a husband, dog, and 8 chickens! There are so many things I love to do, and try, but I have to be careful not to spread myself too thin or I lose my balance and shut down.
I find as I approach 50 my body is changing, not in good ways :-) and it's a struggle to maintain my weight, and fight the cravings for salty carbs! Also the hormonal shifts seem to make me pretty moody. I'd love to hear from women my age who are going through this. I understand it's all part of life, but some days are easier than others!
Nice to "meet" you all!
