I saw a video on my diabetes monitor website for a chocolate PB smoothie that they made using chocolate protein powder (no sugar I think). I've looked on Amazon.com, and that stuff is sooo expensive!
I don't have a health food store nearby, so would have to get it off the 'net.

Plus, some of it is called whey powder--is that the same as Protein powder??

I can get those little cans of "diet shakes" and "protein shakes" though--are they similar? I really want a chocolate smoothie! :drinker:

I get my whey protein powder from Whole Foods. If you don't have a Whole Foods nearby, check your local grocery store in the health section (maybe where the Cliff, Luna, Power, etc. bars are located). They might have whey and soy protein powder there. Good luck!

My husband is hypoglycemic and has a protein shake every morning. He's tried alot of powders and likes the EAS brand best. They have one that is "carb control" with very little sugar. If you like it they sell a large bag at Costco! Great savings. But you can find it at Walmart, RiteAid etc.

PS I like the ultraslimfast optima shakes myself

    Goodluck!

Hey... do you have a GNC nearby? I think so most grocery stores sell Proetin Powder now, but GNC staff is very knowledgeable, and often give free samples and shakers.

The 'Protien' in protein powder generally comes from four sources:

Whey (milk by-product, and according to body builders, it has the best bioavailability for humans)
Soy (some say it is poorly digested by non Asian consumers)
Brown Rice (lowest level of protein and highest level of carb - but still a great option for vegans)
Egg (this can give the body high levels of the essential fatty acid ARA which can aggravate inflammatory diseases such as asthma, eczema, arthritis, etc).

I've never seen a product that gives one serving for less than $1.50 - $2, but I often make a smoothie and use it as a meal (and, really, chicken breast is more than $1.50 - $2 per serving!).

Good luck finding it - and those PB shakes are TO DIE FOR!!!! Yum!

my doctor recommended Unjury. You can go to Unjury.com. There are 4 flavors that you can use. I use the unflavored alot, I put it into different foods to get my protein for the day.
