Okay, so I've been a member of my fitness pal and I love it! It is a great tool to use when you want to keep a journal of what you eat and do through out the day (I say journal because I'm a guy) haha so my question is....

Why MFP doesn't recognize the calories being burned working out?! I super-set everything I do and is fast paced so I know I'm sweating and I know I am loosing impurities but how come when I log in my exercises it comes up showing that I haven't burned calories...rubbish but I still love the app! Its one of my favorites!

When you input lifting weights and such as exercise, don't put it under strength exercises, because those do not account for calories burned. Instead put it under cardio.

    I hope I helped!

Go under exercise and type in strength training under Cardio- I will calculate a calorie burn there for it. If you think that is not accurate you can click add exercise and add what you like.

I started doing this too because I'm doing some circuit training and it definitely is burning calories!!!
  • Working out does burn calories but there are too many factors that affect the calories burned that MFP.com cant calculate it accurately. Your heart rate during them, how long it was a certain rate, and other factors affect it. As everyone else stated if you wanna calculate the calories then put it under cardio and chooose an option that is close to what your re doing. I had the same question when I first joined. Hope this helps!

Get yourself a HRM and create custom exercises for yourself if you cant find what you're looking for under cardio.

I have a feeling it's because you're logging it under strength training which is different for everyone. However cardo/aerobic exercises are usually similar and can be more accurate. I may burn a ton of calories pumping iron but I can't log it because muscle burns fat all day long...and the rate varies.
