eating at home

I do not eat out that much, and when I do it is at a Vietnamese restaurant or another healthy restaurant. Being a vegetarian really limits what one can eat, especially in fast food places. With that said, I at at Taco John's this afternoon for the first time a while, and logged my calories. All that I have to say is, what a waste! I pay attention when I cook at home, and can make really nourishing meals for 350-500 calories that leave me satisfied for a long time. I busted my calories for the day, and while I will still get within my goal for the day, I have to pay much more attention. So, not worth it. I feel much hungrier than I should at this point. Boo.

Eating out is really a sham in the long run. There is also so much additional sodium in most meals that it just doesn't help. I have also saved so much money by cooking at home vs going out or "ordering in."

I agree...I always end up WAY over my calories when I go out to lunch or dinner. I think I am making a healthy choice and then when I log everything in...not so much. So I make an effort to bring a lunch to work each day and cook healthy dinners at home.

I like to choose my battles. I like pizza. A lot. ALOT even. Empty, greasy, nutritionless calories of tastified deliciousocity. I like going to chipotle or applebees, cuz they are places my friends, or my boyfriends and I are comfy together. And life with out cheezy chili fries is no life at all says I.

Anyway- we do all learn which ones are worth avoiding and which are worth the splurge!
