I've been doing a lot more running at the gym lately and I'm looking for some good songs to run to. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Don't laugh, but you should really try running to the sound-track to "Saturday Night Fever". Stayin alive, staying alive....ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin alive........ and as you run, you can picutre John Travolta on the dance floor, white flares, one arm extended skywards......yeah.

Or you could try Nut bush city Limits, Tina Turner. Great tempo.

I can't run without music! Here's a few that go me through my last couple of marathons:

Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Bee Gees - You Win Again
Anthing by Queen!! esp We are the Champions, Under Pressure, Don't Stop Me Now
    Stronger - Kanye West
Suddenly I see - KT Tunstall
Rocky - Eye of the Tiger (ok so this is cheesy but it works!)
    Scatman, Scatman
Martha and the Muffins, Echo Beach
    Lose Yourself, Eminem
Pink's music is generally really good to run to.

Not sure where you are from (I'm English) but I also love Starlight and Time Running Out by Muse; The Cure, Friday I'm in love; Coldplay, Speed of Sound; Go West by the Pet Shop Boys

Careful how some songs that are faster/slower can really effect your pace! Apparently one man who broke some record or other did so by playing Scatman continually in training as it the perfect BPM for his pace. I find that dance/insirpation music really makes me run/work harder. If I play slow music I naturally slow down with it...

I tend to have a few songs that I always keep on my ipod shuffle and then add a few chart songs every so often.

look on youtube - there are a lot of djs who have mixed different songs togethe - a lot of 70s and 80s mixes are available. i have 4 right now, each are about 10 minutes long - very upbeat. you can use 'free software' to download the youtube videos into mp3 format. check out dj galanis and rendevu.

Rule nr. 1: only bring music you really like
Rule nr. 2: make sure there's no slow songs on the play list: beautiful as they may be, they're no good while running

    Want something unusual?

Get the King of the Surf Guitar: The Best of **** Dale !

Surf guitar follows a really fast pace and that must translate in very high BPM. You'll be running at level 15 in no time, and not feel the pain because you're in trance!

    Seriously, it's great music.

Anything else that is high paced and cheerful is good for running.

Want something weird ENTIRELY different? Get Messer Chups (Crazy Price and Safari Hyenas are among the best albums). Bizarre music with fantastic tunes and movie fragments.

Better Shred Than Dead: The **** Dale Anthology Disc 1> All are perfect for running.

But.. ya, I guess it's all guys music that I'm pointing to. Oh well, who runs on "Cuddle Songs Disk 8" hahaha...

Jrm: "I Want You To Want Me" - Cheap Trick Wow, that's looooong ago since I last heard that one.
