Overseas Paul mentioned to me about a place called McGuires which is near us. This is a family owned pub. After googling for them to find out information on this place, I found out that they have a running club!

http://www.mcguiresrunners.com/

They do 5 miles every Tuesday. I can do 3 miles, so I don't know about signing up. I guess after doing 10 runs, they give you an official McGuires shirt and you get to run over to the bar and have runner's club drinks. It actually sounds like something fun to do, but I will have to find something to do with my kiddos.

Is anyone part of a running club like this? What do you suggest and think?

Sounds fun! I bet you can do a shorter route at first and then you have a great goal and motivation to work up to 5 miles!!! Just check the cals on those beers.

I  McGuire's!! I always look for that big green bus when I am in those parts!
Except it probably wouldn't be good to eat their food nowadays with my new lifestyle. :frown:
The running club sounds neat though!

Yes, there is an international running club (actually "a drinking club with a running problem") called the Hash House Harriers. It can be a lot of fun, but their irreverent sense of humor is not for everyone. If this sounds interesting you might want to check out if there is a group in your area. They often have walker-friendly trails if you aren't up for a longer run. :drinker:

OMG I clicked through the map...and found a website for their local chapter with the motto, "A Drinking Club with a Running Problem!" What a crack up! Their screen names have nothing on us! Here are a few of the cleaner ones:

    ClapOnStrapOn1
    canalentryandoilswell
    BetterLaidThenNever
    Cant Touch This
    BytesHimself1
    fun2chaseme

    ...............................................................................yikes! LOL

It sounds like there are plenty of clubs out there, how fun!

You must live in Pensacola...lol. I spent 5 months there at Corry Station. The food at Mcguires is so great. But, anyhow, I think you should do it. If you cant make the whole 5 running I bet there are others that walk part of it:)
