I would love to make a strawberry pie and want to use Splenda so I don't have to feel guilty. Has anyone tried this? What was the outcome? Does it taste like a normal pie? What is your recipe? Thanks!!!

Yes i have made it and yes it tastes fabulous. I made a strawberry one with FF cool whip and a light graham cracker crust, it was a hit. If you check out my profile I'll put a pic up of it.

Yes I make it with splenda and sugar free strawberry jello, it is awesome!!!! I have brought it to many get togethers and potlucks and get nothing but positive responses and people asking for the recipe. As far as the actual recipe I don't have it with me but I can get it and send it to you :)

Do you know if I want to make a regular strawberry pie- how much Splenda would I use?

I would rather use normal sugar but put less in and have a smaller piece. You should really look up splenda before you use it because it has been known to cause heart palpitations, liver and kidney problems.

"While Splenda® may be safer than aspartame (Nutrasweet®, Equal®)--which is linked to leukemia and lymphoma--there still has not been enough convincing evidence to prove Splenda®'s safety." - http://www.quick-weightloss-solutions.com/dangers-of-splenda.html

    Good luck!

I'm pretty cautious when it comes to replacing sugar in recipes with artificial sweeteners. Both white sugar and artificial sweeteners are incredibly processed. Do some research on sweeteners and come to your own conclusion. I'd rather have fresh strawberries with all their natural antioxidants, fiber, and natural sweetness (and who doesn't love ~50 calories per cup??) than strawberry jello-splenda-pie any day.

It measures cup for cup just like sugar...but I use a little less than the recipe calls for because it's pretty sweet.

There are 4 cups of fresh strawberries in the pie....it doesn't call for much splenda or jello. It is a TREAT that is made once in awhile. I know the pro and cons and still chose to use it rarely. There is always something with everything out there that we should or shouldn't eat for one reason or another but as long as it's once in awhile I think it is ok.

Incorrect, there are numerous studies citing the safety of sucralose (Splenda).

Nothing better to treat unfounded hysteria than research.
