Hello everyone! I am new (just started this week) to the MyFitnessPal community. I am loving this site already. I even have it linked on my Android, so no excuses for me!

I will be 40 in a few months so I am sorta going through a "reflection" period. My health, while not poor, is in need of attention. I've been a yo-yo dieter for about 2 years now. I am determined this time to not diet but watch my caloric intake and exercise more.

I am 5'5" and weigh 215 lbs (boo hiss). My goal is to reach 150 lbs. No specific date for the goal as I know it is all a journey. But If I can make halfway progress (30-32 lbs) within 6 months I will be the happiest woman in the world.

I wish everyone success on their journey to better health.

WELCOME ABOARD THE MFP FITNESS TRAIN! I joined a litle over a month ago. I turned 41 in December and pretty much am where you are, at a reflection period. About 2 1/2 years ago I was doing great. Down to my early college weight of 130, exercising like lunatic on my elliptical and feeling great. Then my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer and wound up papralyzed, bed ridden, paraplegic,... not the best 3 months of my life, pretty much the absolute worse! So, I had to deal with losing my dad, deal with mom which can be trying on a good day, keep working, because did I mention the husband was laid off from work the month after the diagnosis!!?? Yea, not a good time for us. BUT we survived, made peace with ourselves and moved on, never fogetting.
So, I have now found myself ready to get back to where I once was and with MFP and all the "friends" I have made on the site I am doing great!!!!!!! Hubby and I are in a wedding for a couple friends of ours in August, so my goal is to be close to my goal and have a fairly flat tummy which has been my enemy since preschool!
Feel free to add me as a friend if you a e looking for others to share your journey, as I am! Best of luck to you! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!

What an awesome story! Sounds like you are now in a good place and you have confidence you can reach your goals. I was dreading turning 40 and out of shape. But now I feel like I can turn that around, if I really stick to it! Thank you for the encouragement.

I started my journey March 21 st 2010 at 228 pounds. I didn't really try and lose weight over the summer...I just tried to stay active, and not gain. I started the new year getting serious about losing. I was at 175 Jan 1st and as of last friday I was 161.4

I hope to be a healthy weight by the middle of March. I want to hit my total goal of 125 pounds by Nov 2011
I just wanted to post this so you would know you can do it!! I will be fifty Jan 2012

    Good luck ; )
