Whats your favorite way to make them?

I have a challenge this week to add a new veggie or fruit. And seeing as I have tried just about every American fruit and veggie available in my region besides the root veggies (intimidating to me for some reason). It was suggested I roast them. And certainly I will give it a shot with some of them, but i wondered what you used them for?

I have put them into stew with beef and other veggies. I didn't LOVE their flavor but they were alright.

I like to chop baby turnips into a pot of soup. They go well with chicken soup. Larger, fresh turnips can be boiled and mashed like potatoes. Be careful to use fresh turnips, as the older ones get lots of fibers in them that can make the mashing kinda chewy.

This recipe is suppppper simple and so delicious:

Chop the turnips into rounds, along with carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes, purple onions and butternut squash (any combo of these is good)

Then, line a baking sheet with foil, and coat the foil generously with PAM. Spread the vegetables in one layer, then spray the veggies with a generous coat of PAM. Sprinkle with sea salt, fresh ground black pepper, and roughly torn fresh thyme and parsley. Bake at 400 for 40 minutes; turn once, and finish until all lightly browned.
