Swollen legs after exercise

I exercise 2 times a day. I do 30 day shred and at night I use my elliptical for 30-40 minutes. I've noticed that my legs are swollen after I'm done on the elliptical. They do not hurt or anything, just swollen. Its like when I was pregnant! I have never experienced this before and am wondering if anyone might know why or have experienced similar symptoms? Its freakin me out!

  • it happens to me, too! but i've never been pregnant, and it always goes away after awhile :)

    I would suggest that you make an appointment with your doctor and advise him/her of this. Depending on the type of swelling, is it also red in colour and if you press into the swelling of the leg, does the imprint stay there for a bit. May be nothing to be concerned about but I would get it check out just to make sure. Hope this helps.

    its normal... It happens to alot of woman! But yes it may also be a sign that you are not drinking enough water!
  • Are you stretching afterwards? If not it makes a huge diffrence happend to me all the time. Good luck

    have you thought about trying support hose or socks? i work on my feet all day and use the hose and it helps. i know they have regular sock as well.
  • Thanks for posting this!!! I have just started to use my elliptical and have been feeling tight or swollen in my knees too. So it make sense to me to stretch because I know I drink alot of water.


    Anyone have any suggested stretches for these muscles?

    when i was waitressing and on my feet 8-10 hrs a day I'd get swollen legs. I'd prop them up on the back of the couch or against a wall to help the circulation and it worked well.
