Has anyone ever compared the WebMD calorie counter http://www.webmd.com/diet/food-fitness-planner/default.htm to the MFD one? When I compare them using the exact same info I get a calorie difference of 92. MFD tells me I can eat 92 more calories per day. Hmmm not sure which to believe?

I've never done that really. I highly doubt 92cal would make a huge difference in your life. I always leave a considerable amount of calories alone, I don't consume them because I have the feeling the inaccuracies may affect my weight loss, but I'm a little bit paranoid. Haha.

I'm not surprised. That's why I eat a range of calories instead of worrying about how much I can or can't eat day in and day out based on the amount of exercise that I do. You need some wiggle room to account for various factors that just can't be accurately measured.

Do the math...almost 100 extra calories a day is just shy of 10# over the course of a year. That can be the difference between actually losing weight, and may even lead to a weight gain.

Why would you want the extra calories?

id say, either switch to WebMD if it makes you feel better. or if you want to stick with MFP, just make a mental note of not using those calories! either way, you can adjust based on how your body reacts, because neither are exactly accurate i'd say.

So my paranoia isn't irrational? I was trying to convince myself it was. lol

Well, I always try to eat less calories anyways, but the truth is that I like it here. I love the friends and support from all my friends in MFP. I get what I need from here. You can go to your nutritionist and ask her/him whats the deal with that, she/he may even give you a diffrent goal. But atleast you know what to follow.

    :D
  • I am the opposite. MFP tells me to eat 130cal less/day.

It's all in the questions they ask.

It seems to me MFP just tells you a base for daily calories and then adds or subtracts based on activity. WebMD seems to base it on excercise/food at the same time.

WebMD has it laid out a different way then MyFitnessPal...WebMD actually allows me to eat more calories.

I would say they are about the same.
If myfitnesspal was more detailed like WebMd it would probably come out the same.
The activity level is probably what's doing it.
I sit on my butt all day at work so I always do the not active and work from there.

I've check my calories against all different sites and none of them come up with the same number.

If your staying at a good calorie range and working out you'll be fine.

I give myself 1400 a day and I workout and try to get at least 3500 calories a week burned through exercise. That is a for sure 1lb and then whatever I eat under my maintenance calories is extra loss. Don't fret.

Eat healthy and exercise and you will lose. :)
