Changing the Batteries (Polar F6)

Has anyone had to change their battery of their Polar F6 HRM?
My home icon (the one that looks like a strap) is no longer there & after I finish a workout I have a battery icon that's completely empty.
I read on line that I have to take it to take it to an Authorized Service Center but, I have no clue as to where I find the serial # & where to send it.
Also, my Polar strap that goes around the chest.... does that have a battery? I was reading about needing to change batteries for that but, mine does't look as if it has a battery slot for it.
I'm hoping I can use a local store to change it!
Any feedback or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

    I don't know how factual this is, but I do remember seeing a post about someone buying a polar hrm at Best Buy. I didn't know they sell them, but may be worth checking. I have a polar F4 and was wondering the same thing when my battery dies. As for the chest strap, I have no idea. I'm curious to find out.

    I bought my Polar FT4 at Best Buy, so I know for a fact that they sell them. Whether or not they service them is anyone's guess.

    I had to change mine (did it at home) a couple of months ago and it works fine now. The reasoning for taking it to an authorized dealer is to make sure it will still be able to function in water. Since I don't use mine in the water for swimming it wasn't an issue for me. I think the chest strap has a battery too but I'm not sure and I haven't had a problem with that part.     I had an F6 and recently gave it up because from their site it's stated that you have to send it in to be serviced.

    Both the strap and the watch have a battery and either can go out. I think on mine it was the chest strap because it would just stop reading my heart rate but the watch would still work.

    I think there are hack site that can help you step by step pull it apart and put it back together. I didn't trust myself so I figured it was time for a new model since I had mine for over 3 years.
