I've always been told that if a cold is in your chest, you should lay off the cardio until it feels better or you risk making yourself worse.
Hope you feel better soon0 -
Take a easy its better for your body to rest, plus you will get over your cold quicker which means exercise quicker. Get well soon!0

I don't work out at all when I am sick. I try to let my body have all the energy it needs to fight off the cold. Plus I tend to sleep a lot when sick. I cannot imagine trying to do a workout with a cough/runny nose and having a hard time breathing too.0

laying in bed all day and sleeping and being sick can burn more than 2000 calories a day.
so rest up. feed the cold(as in eat enough calories)
your body is sick. It needs food in order to fight this off. If you starve it, it will stay sick longer.
exercise is stress on the body. When it's sick, the cold/sickness is the stress.
When you're better, start exercising again. you'll be just fine.0 -
yes, I've read in my triathlon training book that if is above the neck so to speak, go ahead and exercise as tolerated, but below the neck, as in your lungs, rest up and get better! I would add that if you have a fever, just forget about exercise till you feel much better!0

But also, be aware that you're going to have to reduce your intensity a bit and quite possibly the duration of your workout. This is a definitely a time to pace yourself by 'perceived exertion', not just plunge headlong into your regular workout and complete it no matter what!0 -
Cool! thanks peeps. Lots of different opinions but alot very similar .So i've decided to just rest up today cause i still abit feverish and i still feel chesty (if symptoms are above the head rule as ive learnt) it just means now i have to exercise saturday and sunday to meet my exercise quota. Anyway cheers guys.0

Was contemplating the same thing this morning! A less intense workout seems to be on the cards for me as this is definately a head cold!0

Agreed! I tend to get much more tired and winded on my elliptical if I have a head cold. Take it easy!0
