Hrm in the pool

Options
I'm thinking of getting a heartrate monitor, but have some questions.
My primary exercise is swimming. Can I use one in the pool? Will it accurately measure calories spent? What mind will work best? And finally, do I really need one of those chest strap types - does it get in your way or constrict?
Thanks for any advice ican get here!

I have a polar ft7 and I wear it in the pool. It does have a chest strap but it does not get in my way. :flowerforyou:

my polar F9 is great in the pool. Just know you may have to replace the strap more often if you swim a lot because of the chlorine. Be sure to wash it well. Also, don't try to replace the battery yourself - you have to send it in for replacement to keep the waterproofness.

PS, especially for swimming, you NEED one with a chest strap. The other types (watch only) require you to put your fingers on it to take periodic HR readings. That is inaccurate enough if you are doing dry cardio and taking your rate every so often, but impossible to do swimming w/out stopping.
