I'm new on here and have been trying to lose weight for the last month. I joined curves and have been trying to eat more healthily. Weigh in is next week and today I feel like I'm crashing and burning already. I'm not seeing that much difference on the scales and I don't seem to have the initial extra energy any more. Also had a row with the partner and my ankle is hurting so not sure about exercise so all in all feeling pretty crappy and like I just want to give up today.

I know I'm whining but hoped you guys had some tips on powering through the diet blues. I also tend to eat really well through the week and slip up at weekends - partner only comes home at weekends so I use that as an excuse as well as wanting a couple of beers when I watch the rugby. Am I a hopeless case?

I have one day a week when I don't keep track of what I eat. It is hard at first. I have found that setting mini goals and having a fitness goal help keep me more motivated. I set a fitness goal to run a race, so I have to train for it. If I didn't do that , I don't think I would be motivated either. Set a mini goal, with a reward. I tend to self sabatage (sp?) at times. If I see I am doing well, then I can relax. Well, I gained 2 pounds back, not cool. Then I watched Biggest Loser on Tuesday, and one of the girls there gained 2 pounds, and she is one that works REALLY hard. So, I didn't feel as bad. Love yourself, realize the good things about your body, what it has done for you, and that it deserves to be taken care of well. You can do it. One at a time!!!
  • Hey guys!

Keep going, I know it's hard and motavation can be a right witch but it will be worth it in the end! I lost 3lbs in 3 weeks and the gained 2lbs back in one week whilst still limited my cals to 1200 and exercising like a mad woman. Because of that I almost threw all my hard work out the window. But thanks to the amazing support from everyone on here I'm back on track. Now I don't look at the scales (once a fortnight), instead i take measurements.

Also a great way of motavating myself is by rewards. If I feel I have done really well during the week then I will treat myself on a Sunday and either buy something i really want (shoes, earings, cd even just a new nail varnish) or if I haven't done as well as I give myself a gold star. 4 Gold stars = a reward. It's a great way of getting motavated! Another method a friend recomended if you are a liitle short of cash (and don't want to reward yourself with a huge slice of cake) is each day you exercise put something like a £1 into a jar. At the end of the month you will have £30 to splash out and treat yourself!

Also I now stick a picture of myself at my heaviest on the fridge.. great way to keep me from snacking!

    Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice, it does help knowing there are people out there having the same problems. I was terrible over the weekend and indulged in pizza and beer and far too much of things that are no good for me. I'm back on track now though and managing curves depsite the dodgy ankle (talked to them about it and the recommended a way to do it without causing too many problems). Weigh in tomorrow though, wish me luck!
