A farmer has to go to the market to sell his fox, his chicken and a bag of grain. He reaches a river he has to cross with a barge but he can only carry 1 item on the barge at a time. He can`t leave the chicken and grain alone together and the can`t leave the chiken and the fox alone togther. How does he get all his items across without losing any?

Wait a minute. I have a problem with the magnifying glass question. One, who is to say that the magnifying glass is powered by the sun or that you aren't in Alaska or wherever they have 24 hours of sunlight. Wait until night, and then walk through and get scorched by a full spectrum 1,000,000 watt bulb behind the glass. Second, who is to say that the fire-breathing dragon isnt a vegetarian?!

Now for a harder one.

A band is walking their equipement to go to a gig in the city at night and are short on time. They reach a rail road bridge they have to walk across to get to their gig. Since it is dark they need a flash light to cross the bridge and there is only enough space to cross 2 members at a time. They only have 1 flashlight so the flashlight has to be brought back across the bridge after a pair has crossed. It takes the singer 1 minute to walk across the bridge, the guitarist can cross in 2 minutes, the bassist can cross in 5 minutes and the drummer can cross in 10 minutes. A pair can only walk as fast as the slowest member.

How do they get across in the least amount of time? (hint the fastest time is 17 minutes)
