Okay, so I end up doing a lot of the same workouts over and over again (not great, I know, but I do what I can with a tiny house and a toddler), and I am in the market for a new workout DVD. I prefer to dance, but I'm open to other ideas.

I only own one workout DVD: a Dancing With The Stars Fat Burning Cardio Workout, and, I love it. But, it gets old. I use the DVDs on rainy days, and wanted some suggestions to add to my library, if you will.

Everyone keeps talking about that 30 Day Shred thing, which I'm sure it's great, but it sounds so BORING to me.

Any ideas?

Thanks MFPers...You're all AWESOME!

  • If you like dance, look at videos by Ellen Barrett. She has this unique combination of ballet/yoga/pilates workouts that offer great toning and just seem different from other workouts out there. I love zumba but have only done it in a class so I can’t recommend a DVD.

Here are some new ones to look at. I ordered the Aerobarre one and the one that is step aerobics but haven't gotten them yet.

I recently heard that Netflix has some dance workouts on instant play, if you have or are thinking about getting netflix.
  • Greetings....
I have a suggestion....have you looked at "demand fitness". I "discovered" it when looking into "heavy yoga" (yoga for heavy women). It is on "on-line" library of workout classes. EVERYTHING you can imagine!
Of course it's not free, but it's cheaper than joining a gym by a long shot.
It also tracks your fitness as it adds the workouts you complete to your list....I'm using MFP and DF - together they are great for me.
Here is the link in case you want to check it out.

Everyone is suggesting dance so Im going to suggest something completely different (which I've really liked): Shaun T's (Beachbody) Insanity DVDs. Very intense. If you are already in good shape and want something challenging, you'll love it. I find it very helpful when I can add it to my weekly routine.

As far as Dance workouts go, I LOVE Julianne Hough's Cardio Ballroom. You will probably like it, too, since you like the DWTS DVD.

30 day shred is very boring, however, the 20 minutes goes by super fast!!!
