question for fellow drinkers...

I am a beer drinker - have been for many many years.
But, now that I am really trying to get in better shape and lose weight, I am thinking of venturing into vodka when we indulge to save on calories and bloat.
I don't mean to sound like an alcoholic, but, I know how may beers I can have to feel good and not lose control of my eating (4 or 5) so, does that mean I could have 4 or 5 vodka drinks? Or, does vodka buzz you differently?
Is there a difference in the "vodka buzz" from the "beer buzz" ??
I'd just like a general idea of what I'm getting into. If I can't make a successful switch to vodka, I'll be quitting drinking altogether for awhile. Its just not worth the weight sabotage.
Thank you. All opinions appreciated.

I'm a beer drinker too. Coors light and Michaleob ultra are a good low calorie beer. When it comes to Vodka, you are going to drink fewer (at least for awhile) And the hang over will probably be worse, at least for awhile too.0

I like both i don't get hung on either, I switched to vodka and i can have 5 shots and feel fun. I can drink like three beers and i'm good. I don't feel a difference from on to other. Now Jack is a different story... I become part pirate ha ha ha me ol salty dog. Ha ha ha0

Take it from a professional...booze hits you differently and if you are a beer drinker you will be tempted to drink liquor the same way, large swigs rather then sipping
You will feel little or nothing for a while then the buzz so you will think it is like beer and keep going, not as filling so the 4 beers may become 6 or 7 mixed drinks.
Almost like a switch is thrown that nappy buzz will be like a 2x4 up side the head in being drunk.0 -

  Love it0 -
trust me - I love my beer! I have the gut and double chin to prove it! :-)
Overall, booze is empty calories and isn't good for your body. I read somewhere that for one alcoholic drink it takes your body one hour to metabolize - which takes away from metabolizing food etc.
On the hard liquor subject, i'm known to enjoy some vodka or whisky. (sheesh, this doesn't sound good). I think a couple shots of that on ice, and you will be feeling good. What i did find though - is that beer buzz seems to keep up with each drink. Where the hard liquor buzz, doesn't hit you almost until it's too late and you are well past buzzed.
If you go the hard booze route, I would take it slow and have on ice (to save cals), but go slowly.
Overall, if you like beer that much, I would save for special occassions - in moderation every week (as a cheat) or keep to every couple weeks and enjoy them.
To me - you can't completely deprieve (sp) yourself from all treats - just keep them in moderation. So if you like beer - drink it! Just don't go too crazy...0 -
just a couple of shots right of the bat now you have a little buzz have a beer or two and nurse them0

I drink vodka normally when I'm not drinking Tequila ...on the rocks or neat.
Drink carefully becuase otherwise you will get sloshed like a mofo. I can show you picturesHAHA.
Measure ...measure. I am not an alcoholic I just love drinks and I was not realizing how much I was pouring per drink LOL!!!
Obviously with beers it's just a bottle and you know what you're drinking amount wise, so I'm just saying, be careful :drinker:0 -
Okay. This is a perfect question for me. I used to drink ciders like Magners all the time before I started this diet.
Beer is the devil. My boyfriend will agree! He is a complete craft beer drinker and had been putting on lots of weight between his 9% alc beers and chips/dip fetishes.
You MUST try to make the whole 'weekday workweek' with as LITTLE alcohol as possible. Also, take a supplement called 'Milk Thistle', It helps cleanse your liver and detox all the s--t that has been gathering in your body. That will help! Dandelion helps too, make sure you are healthy before ever taking any supplements.
So, that being said:
Weekends have 2-4 pints with a 'heavy hand' mixture of Vodka/Seltzer/Lime slices OR Jack/Diet Coke OR Gin/Tonics (beware of those)
Forget beer ever existed. Trust me, Vodka/soda/lime is my drink of choice...
OR Veuve Clicquot or Friexenet champagne (not the WHOLE bottle) ; ] 1-2 times a week, if you MUST - meaning OCCASIONALLY.
Hope this helped bebi!0 -
Boy this all sounds complicated! I might have to just give up the buzz for a little while.0
