.... doing the 30 Day Shred - Level One.
I'm 50 years old, been somewhat overweight most of my life. Recollections of being fat in grade school, & high school, blah blah blah. Had a few years before and just after marriage when I was in pretty good shape, but then kids came, pounds came on slowly - about 3 per year for each year married. Been married 21 years now - you do the math!
Starting weight 10 days ago, 202. Did all my measurements as well. Height - 5'3".
10 days ago I did Level 1 of the 30 Day Shred for the FIRST time. I kinda walked through it, watched all of it but didn't do half of the moves they did.
Day 3 of Level 1, my lower back "went out". Man, I felt like a broken down old lady! Couldn't stand up straight without pain, and even then I could feel my lower spine was "crooked". (I have a combination of mild spinal deformities, rarely affects my daily life). But I was NOT going to stop, only to have to start over again later! So I kept on, didn't miss a single day, and I just avoided the "reverse" crunches and the Bicycle crunches. Happy to follow Anita this whole time, (lower-impact versions of the moves), wasn't even watching Natalie.
Day 7 of Level 1, my lower back was completely back to normal, no pain or discomfort of any kind! Still was hearing major knee-cracking on the side lunges, but no pain, so on I pushed! Still avoided all but regular crunches.
Yesterday, Day 9 of Level 1 - I DID THREE NORMAL, REGULAR, STANDARD PUSH-UPS! (PLEASE keep in mind a 200 lb, 50-year-old, 5'3" short fat woman!) I also did about HALF of the Reverse Crunches AND the Bicycle Crunches they did!
TODAY - DAY 10 OF LEVEL 1 - I did SEVEN STANDARD PUSH-UPS! My arms and body were SHAKING on the last 2, but I PUSHED ON! I did NEARLY EVERY REP, ABOUT HALF OF THEM "NATALIE-STYLE"!!! I noticed about halfway through the side lunges that my knees were COMPLETELY SILENT - NO CRACKING OR POPPING SOUNDS! And..... and.... AND... I DID EVERY SINGLE CRUNCH EXERCISE, WITH NO BACK PAIN WHATSOEVER!
Results - here they are. I have lost 5 LBS, and have lost 1 inch off my chest AND my waist, half inch off my hips, 1 inch off EACH of my thighs! That's 4.5 inches total lost! (No loss off my arms or calves - I'm imagining that I DID lose FAT, but GAINED some MUSCLE there!)
Tomorrow will be Day 1 of Level 2. 10 days ago you would have won the bet if you had bet me that I would say I was LOOKING FOWARD to exercising! But that's what DAILY Exercising has done for me, I look forward to it every day!
I'll be back to post more "musings" 10 days from now, when I'm at day 10 of Level 2, and ready to move on to Level 3!
Love and Encouragement to All,

Thats so great! I love that feeling, when every time you do a work out you get a few more reps in, the crunches get a bit easier, and your nody isnt screaming at you quite as loud! You should be proud or yourself alot of people would have quit and wouldnt have gotten to feel the success you did!0

 Isn't it funny how we reflect back on our lives.....I NEVER thought of you as fat in high school while I always saw myself as heavy...and yet, we did share some prom dresses back then!!??
Okay...you have inspired me to get started....I've been putting this off primarily because I'm afraid of failure to keep at it everyday for 30 days....and yet, I need to start somewhere, sometime!!!
You once recommended another video (see how old I am..LOL) just before my 20 year reunion...."Freedance"...remember it?? It came out after Flashdance and when I started doing the video I could NOT keep up...especially with the jumping jacks...but after a half dozen workouts, I was keeping up and then actually looking forward to it! Time to take your advice again girlfriend!0 -

mrsanderson404 - yeah, I think we were about the same size then - and remember when they thought we were TWINS in Taiwan? Or was it Korea? :-) And FREEDANCE! Seriously, how do you remember this stuff? LOLOL! As for you getting started on your own Shred - GO FOR IT! Can't wait to read your updates!
Love and encouragement to all!
