Modified Shred?

I was doing the 30 Day Shred when I hurt my ankle a couple of weeks ago. I want to start up again, but my Dr said that the bones are misaligned in my feet (probably due to 4 pregnancies) and that I need to stick to low impact to avoid further injury.
Has anyone tried to modify the shred to make it lower impact? I know that she says she has 400 lb people doing the jumping jacks and they shouldn't be modified, but jumping is killing my joints.

You could try instead of jumping, marching or foot taps alternating sides...i occasionally will have to do that when my knees decide to freak out...0

I would think marching in place or lifting your legs in marching intervals would work.:happy:0

Don't do the jumping jacks!! Don't do anything that goes against the Dr. recommendations. Make it low impact, and still go for it, as long as it doesn't cause injury. If it's a foot issue, be careful with planks as well, and anything that bends your foot weird. If it turns out you need to move on from the shred, there is no shame in that. :drinker: :bigsmile:0

I agree. Don't aggravate your injury more by doing any kind of jump moves. March in place but brings you knees up high. If you want to raise your heart rate, pump your arms as well and when you do, make sure you go past where your heart is, that'll raise your heart rate and burn calories. Good luck and hope you get better soon!0

there is a video on youtube, nathanblake, and on one of his videos he shows various lower impact moves of higher impact moves iykwim. I specifically remember his showing 2 different alternatives to jumping jacks.0 -
Jillian says at some point in the video that people with lower body issues can always go to punching instead of jumping and I have switched out some of the jumping for more punching when my cranky knee was being extra cranky. For more effort you could hold light hand weights while you punch. I also do most of my jumping on the mini trampoline instead of the floor.
Where there's a will there's a way, don't get discouraged.0 -
Thanks, Everyone!0
