I also use Pita or a tortilla for my crust and load tons of veggies on it with minimal cheese! delicious!

Me too! we use whole wheat pita's and low fat cheese. Try putting chicken instead of pepperoni/salami etc. and if you like veggies put lots of those as they are low calorie
  • I just made english muffin pizzas last night! Use the light multi-grain ones, with spaghetti sauce and 2% mozzarella shredded cheese, and all the veggies you can handle! I also used ground turkey with taco seasoning on some of them...they were delicious!

    My favourite:

    1 whole grain pita
2 TBSP Bulls Eye (or other) BBQ sauce
    1/2 chicken breast diced
    1/2 cup Mozza Cheese
    Sprinkle of Green Peppers

The entire pizza is about 400 calories and 8 grams of fat.

I like BOBOLI pizza crust. The Whole Grain pizza crust is 22 g carbs per serving.
I just made some pizza on this the other day and used ground turkey with lots of veggies. As far as cheese goes, mozzarella isnt to bad for calories, only 80 cal per serving.

Flatout light Italian herb flatbread is really good. My wife made pizza out of them two nights ago. 90 calories a "shell". Since it's so thin you definitely want to use a pizza stone so it cooks evenly.

    I use ground flax seed.

    2 cups ground flax
    5 eggs
1/4 cup oil (I use coconut or olive)
    1 tbsp baking powder
    1/2 cup water
Italian seasonings (1-2 tbsp) as you like for taste

Mix all then spread evenly on a big cookie sheet covered in parchment paper. You can half the recipe for a smaller crust. Bake for about 30-35 minutes until brown then top with pizza sauce cheese and toppings and bake until cheese is how you like it.

Flax is almost all fiber so carbs are next to none. This same mixture makes great muffins or rye bread. For muffins add a cup of fruit instead of Italian seasonings and for rye bread add 1-2 tbsp dried onion flakes re-hydrated in little hot water and 2 tbsp of caraway seeds.

For an individual pizza I use a small whole wheat flour tortilla on a baking stone so it gets crispy. I have found the calorie counts range anywhere between 100 and 130 depending upon brand. I have used pizza sauce or non fat ranch dressing, then add steamed veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, green peppers, onions and diced tomatoes. Add some shredded skim low fat mozzarella and you have a great little pizza. You can make this for less than 400 calories depending on how much cheese you use. I'm kind of stingy, I rarely use more than 56g. I just like the idea that I am eating pizza! I don't deprive myself of anything.

This is what I suggest for a thin crust, cauliflower crust pizza.

If you want deep dish crust, use this recipe: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/deep_dish_pizza.html

I use portabella mushrooms, turned upside down for the "crust." Make my own sauce, top with veggies and sprinkle with mozzarella. Bake it on about 400-425 until cheese is golden brown.
Saves on cals, carbs and sodium, especially if you make your own sauce.
