Hey there, I've been using MFP for a couple months now (Android APP, gotta love it), but this is my first time on the forums. I've read through a lot and I can't wait to get to know more of you.

A little about me:

I'm an ex-college athlete that tumbled out of shape. Since August, one of my co-workers that runs races, has been encouraging me to try them. (ME? RUN for FUN? Yeah right...) I finally decided that my New Year's Resolution would be to compete in a 5K. Probably in a deluded mindset I came up with this. So I signed up for one fairly close (Feb 5th) so I wouldn't back out. I started to train for it and I loved it!

I complete my first 5k and have another in 2 weeks and then...call me crazy a half marathon April 30th.

The weight loss isn't my main objective, being able to complete the Half is what I am setting my sights on. But I am "overweight" so it is a great addition in my journey.

Great idea re setting weight loss and fitness goals (races)! Races definitely keep you motivated! Right now Im trying to stay focused on a five lb weight loss (that keeps eluding me) just so I can run a little lighter at my next race!! Keep up the good work!! You can do it!!

I can't wait until my next race. For my first one, my goal was to run the entire thing. (It was hard, but I'm glad I stuck to my guns) Now I want to get a better time. I definitely hope loosing the lbs will help my race times.

I love it!! I had the same goal for my first race and then my first marathon!! Just wanted to enjoy the race, complete it without injury and not walk it at all! Now Im hoping for better times (better PR) and also still enjoy the journey! I really do love training. It's almost as good or better than racing!! (because of the flexibility and not having to be elbow to elbow w a crowd) Im excited for your next race... because I am excited for my next race! I know how that feels!! ENJOY YOURSELF!!
