How a committed non-runner, "became" a runner.

Running Milestones:

Became a Runner - when I decided to go outside and run for the first time in more than a decade.
Became an Equiped Runner - when I was professionally fitted for shoes and bought a HRM.
Became a Serious Runner - when I got on a schedule and went out even on the days I didn't feel like it.
Became a Committed Runner - when I ran in the snow and ice rather than fall a day behind in training.
Became a Curious Runner - when I started reading about running and training.
Became a Team Runner - when I got a group at work together to train together for a 1/2 marathon.
Became a Competitive Runner - when I ran my first race (10k).
Became a Record-Breaking Runner - when I beat my own 5k pace by more than two minutes.
Became a Goal-Oriented Runner - when I put my 2011 annual training/race plan together.
Became an Encouraging Runner - when I encouraged others to run with our group and several "non-runners" have started showing up a few times a week to run with us.

Future:
Will Become a Travelling Runner - when I go out of state later this year for a race combined with a vacation.
Will Become an Annual Runner - in October when I have been running steadily for a year.
Will Become a Masters Runner - on my 40th birthday in August of this year. (At least I think being 40+ is the only criteria...)
Will Become a Marathon Runner - later this year as my training continues.

    Inspiring :)
  • I love this! I have been all of these for over 2 years now....(except the masters I have 3 years to go for that)! I have to confess I still feel like I am lying when I say "I am a runner" Great job with your running and most of all congratulations on your accomplishments.

My running group has 8 people registered for the Dallas Rock & Roll Half Marathon on 3/27. It will be the longest run that any of us has done so PR/PB for us all. :)
