i assume "it kills" would be in association with infection. my dr did a test to make sure i didnt have any bacteria down there, and when it came back clean she went ahead and inserted it. (she waited until i was on my cycle so that way the lining would be thinned out) it literally felt the same as getting a pap smear. now ive only had mine for 6 months, but so far so good.0

I have my second Mirena (after removing it to conceive #2) and I would never consider anything else. It's easy, no thought goes into it and it's super effective. My personal favorite part? No period. I haven't had on in ages except while I was TTC and I love loooove it!0

Also, it didn't hurt AT ALL to have it put in. I felt a little dizzy because I was so nervous, but neither removing the old one or putting in the new one hurt in the slightest.0

I've had both the nuva ring and the mirena iud. Through my experience I prefer the nuva ring really no uncomfortable side effects. You can not even tell it was in. Mirena on the other hand was painful during intercourse. But of course with any contraceptive it is best to talk to your doctor about all side effects. Nuva ring does not have as many side effects as mirena. Just do your research.0

I was on Depo Provera for a year and a half...My family seemed to think it made me moody (I think they were making me moody..LOL) You don't have a period at all when you're on it. It's effective the day you get it, and you only need it every 3 months. It is an injection into large muscle (usually your butt I guess, but my step mom is an RN and gave me mine in my thigh)...Loosing weight can make your period differ a little btw...so being one or two days late may have to do with that?0
