I get off work early on Thursday but since a lot of people will take the whole day off, I was looking forward to getting lunch out since most area restaurants will be dead with not many people in the office. So I just checked the website to see how many calories my favorite chicken cesar salad is.....don't know if anyone has Cosi around them, but their Chicken cesar is like 640 calories! Abd that doesn't include dressing, that is another 300 or so!

Why the heck does GRILLED chicken have that many calories, because the only other thing in it is lettuce and croutons and I have a hard time believing either of those is the culprit. Man, I so wanted that salad but I'm not willing to forgo almost my entire days calories on a salad at lunch :grumble:

croutons can be 1) baked (good) or 2) deep fried (not good) so they can be really high in calories. Caesar also usually has bacon bits (high in cals) and parmesean (oh so yummy, but high in cals). You could probably opt for a garden salad with grilled chicken for WAY less calories... try bringing your own dressing too, I usually do... for some reason restaurants seem to only carry the HIGHEST calorie salad dressing! :grumble:

Hmm, yeah if the croutons are deep fried then maybe, and I think it has a few shreds of parmasan. No bacon bits tho....and I just can't stomach the idea of paying $8 for a salad and having to use my own dressing too, haha. So no Cosi for me on Thursday

How about eating half of it? And have the dressing on the side.

It could also be the oil that they use in the grilling process or if they marinate the chicken in anything. Scary isn't it?

Absolutely!! Just plain 5oz of a grilled chicken breast has like 110 cals whereas a marinated chicken breast may contain up to 550 cals!! I l:heart: ve my grilled chicken salad from T-Bonz but had to quit eating there because I too found out that the only thing I thought was healthy enough to eat actually is almost as bad as my Wendy's favorite!
