Hi everyone,

I am starting to lose faith, I lost 5 pounds almost immediately but have been stuck at this weight for weeks. I know it is normal to plateau and that those first pounds were probably water weight but still, the DAMN scale/inches are not moving

What have you guys done to shock your body back into burning fat. I workout 5 days/week - 3 days doing Zumba and two days weight-lifting. Any suggestions

Thanks!

If you haven't worked out before, you're probably building muscle and that will make you think you're not losing fat. Measurements are the true test (or body fat). I believed I could never lose the weight, but now have lost 15 pounds in less than 3 weeks. Counting calories is simple math. It's impossible not to lose weight. Also check your bmr and see if you need to redo it. http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/

I'm sorry I don't have advice. I'm in the same boat. My clothes feel loose so I consider that a victory. I'm doing insanity 6 days a week. Plateauing has been stressful. I've even gained 1 pound and then lost it a day later. It's crazy.

my workouts mirrored yours, and with the same results, soooo
I flipped them around 3 serious weight-lifting sessions (BodyPump, BootCamp) & 2 intense Zumba classes.
I usu get in one more something somewhere,
protein replenish w/in 30 minutes after an intense workout,
    hydrate WELL 90+ ounces,
cut out all the fast foods, all cokes, and stay w/in calorie count.

It's really not that difficult...don't over think it, just plan it and follow that plan.
We're about the same, and that block had me for several months! Not anymore

Keep it real. Decide and don't look back.
  • Drink more water. Really watch your calories - make sure you are eating clean, good food. Watch your sodium.
Eat at least half to two thirds of your exercise calories (everyone has an opinion on exercise calories- mine is to eat 1/2 - 2/3 of them).
Increase your cardio. It's easy to spend a lot of time at the gym not working hard - be sure you are!
Watch the beer/wine/booze if you drink - it can really slow down progress!
Good luck! Hang in there - it will happen.

How many calories are you netting? You might need to eat more especially with weight lifting. If you don't give your body enough fuel it will hold onto what's already there and store what you take in. Are you below 1200 every day? Try and net above this number or at least don't go below more than a couple of days in a row. And since you are weight lifting try taking measurements rather than relying on the scale. Could be you've gained a bit of muscle while shedding fat. Muscle takes up less space than fat so you could be losing inches even though the scale hasn't changed.

Thanks everyone! I am staying pretty close to my net calories, I customized my food diary to be at 1250 calories since I am weight-lifting. I drink at least a gallon of water a day but I may have some hidden sodium. I have been working out for years but my job is very stressful and my body is just holding onto that weight.

I appreciate the suggestions and love
