My good friend told me about myfitnesspal last year about this time. We both lost weight while our husbands were deployed in Iraq. Together we lost at least 100 lbs! More her than me, she is more disciplined, but still we did it :) I went from a size 16 to 8/10 and started at about 180 lbs down to 145 the day my husband came home. He's been here for about 8 months now and I am about 9 lbs heavier :(

For the most part I maintained. Always ranging from 145-147. But in January I started seeing a fertility specialist and was put on some medication. I have been cramping alot and my body is adjusting to the changes and the hormones. With all of the side effects, pain, discomfort- I didnt want to work out as much and also turned to comfort food (pizza, burgers, fries, soda, cake, cookies etc etc), eating out ALOT. I lost my motivation. I mean, I still ran maybe one or 2 times a week, but that was no where NEAR enough to cover what I was eating.

I get an email today from myfitnesspal because it's been so long since I've even logged anything! I feel like I'm stuck and I need to get out of this whole I've dug myself in! I do NOT want to get fat again! ESPECIALLY if these meds work and I finally get pregnant!!! I'm scared. I worked so hard and seem to be going backwards and I need help.

I have 2 appointments scheduled with my trainer this week and went and bought "healthy" food today and got my food ready for the week. I just HOPE I'm able to stick with it. I think I just needed to let this out. I'm so disappointed in myself for letting myself slip so much! Gaining almost 10 lbs in one month in just ridiculous! Ok, thanks for listening. Goodnight!

You've taken the first step to stopping that cycle. You should be proud of that!! Now just take the next step and do what you need to do tomorrow. Then you can do the next day. One day at a time and you'll be back down to where you were before. Of course, all of those hormones with fertility drugs can also help you put on weight, so don't get discouraged if it doesn't come off as fast or as easily as before. Hang in there!!

I know how scary and upsetting it is, but just get back on track. Start tracking your food and exercise daily. There is alot of motivation and support on this site. You can do it and if you need some help we are here

You can do it!! You have the tools and you've done it before. Sounds like it may be different with the new medication, maybe keep that in mind and try not to get frustrated if your body doesn't react the way it did the first time you were using MFP. Have confidence in yourself and what you want.

Here's a thought. You want to do everything you can to get pregnant and then have a good pregnancy SO, eat healthy, give your baby (when it happens) good food, be strong and exercise. Realize that it may take a while to get pregnant so you have to say at your best health possible!!!

I know how you feel about the frustration at watching the scale creep back up. I guess it all goes back to the "eat well and exercise" thing, but sometimes it just doesnt work. Ive been on a few different medications that really stuff you around, and once your body settles you end up with more weight on. I've found the support of MFP to be awesome. Feel free to add me if you want. Good luck with everything!! I hope that it all settles down soon for you. :)

You took the first step logging back in.... You bought healthy food...so don't be so hard on yourself. Just take baby steps. Your meeting up with a trainer..... looks like your on the right track! Once the weight starts to come off you'll be more motivated..... or your clothes start fitting a bit better.

    Welcome back : )
  • A little tid bit that may keep you motivated, Drs say not matter what your size (well not if your 100 lbs but you get what I mean), if your having trouble getting pregnant, drop a few pounds. I dont know what that has to do with your ability to get pregnant but I know many women who did it and as soon as they dropped 5-10 lbs they were pregnant.

Thanks so much everyone! All good points and I definitely needed your encouragement!! I started out good today and ran and walked about 3 miles total. But my sweet tooth got to me and I had a piece of the pie my husband left in the fridge :( boo! But other than that I did good. Some of your replies got me all watery eyed but in a good way. Thanks again! :)
