Hello, I am an Airman in the USAF. Currently serving in "an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia". I am kinda new to this website, however I have been using it via the app on my ipod. I love how it basically tells me I ate to much, or how what I just ate, if I continue to eat like that, I will gain/lose weight. I heard about the website from the itunes app, and I heard about the itunes app from a health counselor at the Health and Wellness Center (HAWC) on base. Basically I have to pass my PT test or I will be demoted, which also means less pay. Since I have to do PT more often I figured it might be a good idea to try and lose a few inches off my waist, and a few pounds as a whole. Why do I keep failing? Truth is; Lack of motivation, and SHIN SPLINTS, CRAMPED KNEE'S in the winter, sore ANKLES. Tons of people offer to work out with me, but when we do I can't keep up, either lifting weights or running. I get discouraged, I feel like I am slowing them down, or I realize just how weak and slow I am. This website/app has definetly made me start paying attention to what I eat. Wish me luck.

Wishing you loads and loads of luck, you can do it!! Don't let other people being quicker etc make you discouraged, keep doing this for you. The pay thing is a massive motivator! If you like you can add me as a friend.

Well done on the work you are doing in the 'secret location'
  • Hi,

I am new to the USAF (Aug '10) and stationed in Japan. I take my PFA on 15 Mar 11. A couple of my coworkers have started running with me to pace me. I feel just like you--I'm slowing them down. They don't mind, though. We are running 3x/week now with at least 1x on the track. My suggestion is to find someone to pace you and try your hardest to keep up with them. They will be running slower than they normally do, but faster than you usually run. If you're testing soon, then maybe they will even run beside you during the test to pace you like my coworker is going to do for me. Keep working out. It's easier to build daily on the strength/muscles you have, than to 'take a break'. I took a break for 2 weeks and now feel like I am starting over from scratch. You can do this!!!
