I know there are numerous posts about the 30 day shred. So forgive me if this question has been asked.

I was looking into the 30 day shred my concern is i have a bad knee i am supposed to have surgery on it in a few months. It locks alot on me. Will this workout be a terror on my knee. I can do turbo jam, zumba, and alot of the wii games and im okay. But is Jillian that intense that i might hurt my knee more.

Thanks in advance for your help with this question.

  • I love the 30 day shred !!! But I dont have bad knees and this bothered my knees enough to where I do not do it anymore. I am sure everyone has different opinions, But this is rough on the knees !!! " My opinion "
  • Don't do it if you have knee problems.

It is rough on the knees but i think the strength and abs workouts are fine for the most part, maybe sub in different cardio that will not be so intense on the knees!

Yeah I'd agree. I don't have great knees and after awhile they started to hurt. I just restarted it, but am doing the 'easier' version of some of the exercises, paying very careful attention to my form (making sure my knees don't go over my toes) and subbing out some of the ones that are really hard on your knees, like jump squats, with things like boxing with weights--that way I'm still going, and while it might not be optimal in terms of results, it lessens the possibility of injury too.

for sure dont do L3...I dont think you should do it unless you can jump softly, but there are jumping jacks, jumping rope/double jumping rope, jumping lunges...etc....stick to dancing :)

I injured my one of my knees playing softball in high school and I don't have any problems with it. I have done all three levels. However, my husband was doing it with me and it bothered his knees terribly, so I think it depends on the person. The need for surgery makes me think it might be better to do the other things.
