I just bought the new GNC Total Lean protein powder - one serving has 200 calories, 25 g of protein and only 3 sugars. I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this, and what you think about it.

  • How does it taste? That is a concern I have and why I haven't bought it yet..

Haven't tried it but will check it out.

Have you ever tried Pure Protein Whey Protein powders? They have 23-25g of protein and 130-140 calories and 2-3g of sugar depending on which one you choose. The "all natural" versions have 3g of sugar and the regular have 2g (w/ artificial sweeteners). Mix it in with some skim milk and you get 220 calories and 31-33g of protein.

Their Frosty Chocolate makes the milk thick and yummy.

Sounds like a ton of calories with not enough protein to justify the calories. Carb Solutions is 110 calories for 20g protein and something like 1g sugar and 4 carbs.

Who makes it? / Where do you buy that? I chose this one b/c it looked like it would taste good and it was cheaper than the alternative, mega-protein powder. (About $39 at GNC).

The extra calories come from carbs, which you need after a workout. I'm okay with the calorie content. Plus, this one has like 6 g more of fiber than the kind you described.

Right. So I just made my first shake. At first I just mixed the powder into my water with a spoon, but it was all clumpy and chalky, so I had to blend it with a couple of cubes of ice in my blender. It was gross at first, but by the time I finished, it was tolerable. This stuff isn't supposed to taste good! But, it wasn't that bad. There is also chocolate and strawberry if that's your thing.

I have actually used it pretty regular as a quick breakfast when I don't have too much time or need something quick before or after my morning workout. I have used the chocolate - and added1/2 cup fruit or teaspoon of peanut butter. The vanilla is really good with fruit too. It fills me up and gives me what I need. But, I haven't realy used it as a weight loss tool.
  • I found one at GNC a few years back that I really liked and guess I am going to have to stop back by there to see what it was.. It was low carb and high protein...and calories were low... and it tasted good!
