HELP! How to keep the motivation consistent?

I find that I always have the biggest urge to get healthy and eat right late at night. Or when I'm laying in bed before I fall asleep. I'll sit there and make all these plans and have all this resolve to do things "right" this time. And then as soon as I wake up in the morning its gone. Does anyone have any tips on how to be just as determined first thing in the morning as I am right before bed?

Planning goes a long way in terms of motivation. To start your day off on a healthy note, start with breakfast. Have some oatmeal, an omelet, bagel w/ peanut butter, etc and some fruit. Plan out your lunch with some protein, good fats and healthy carbs (brown rice, sweet potatoes, etc). Make sure you have healthy snacks on hand: a handful of walnuts or almonds, no salt added or sugar added peanut butter on a banana, veggies and hummus, some greek yogurt, etc.

This site has some great recipes and I've never had a bad meal from any of their recipes:

I usually do the same thing. I end up getting it back around lunch time. I have started to gather motivating music to listen to first thing in the morning to try and help get me pumped.

I find that I'm the most consistent when I don't give myself any options. As in, when I set the alarm at night so I can get to the gym in the morning, it's not "if" I go, it's WHEN I go. My workouts are planned into my day and they are NOT optional. The same goes for healthy eating: I find that I stick to clean eating much better when I tell myself that NO way am I going over calories today. Not an option. For myself, victory comes with being strict with myself and sticking to my plans. Of course I have days I fail; we all do. But I believe that fitness is as much mental as it is physical, and both take training. Good luck!

    Write the plan down.

Have a calendar with you and plan your meals out for the week. Then remind yourself that you have a plan and you should stick with it. Its tough at first, especially if something else calls your name, but if you are motivated and start thinking of a plan, just write it down.

    GOod luck! :)

try this: once you have finished eating for the day CLEAN YOUR TEETH!
Everything tastes awful when you have a fresh minty mouth (except water ;) ) so you'll HATE eating anything straight after!
When i'm craving at night I find it works!

What you said makes so much sense. If i give myself too much leeway I'm able to talk myself into procrastinating. Or I say what is one day gonna hurt. Then one day turns into a week. Thanks for the advice!

i'm the opposite. i wake up measuring my cereal and milk and planning and preparing my lunch in advance, then dinner time comes and i'm like OHH FOOD!! and OOH DESSERT!!!! :( i have a very hard time being determined at night.

just an idea, but maybe if you did a little workout in the morning, even just a 10 or 15 minute thing, it might motivate you to stay on track all day.

    good luck :)

It was hard for me to get motivated until I stepped back and looked at my Mom. She's got some pretty major health issues and I don't know how much longer I'll have her.. and my Dad died when he was 48. I don't want to be like them!!!! For me, this is for life, not for the goal weight.. I really don't care so much what the scale says, but the more it goes down the healthier I'll be and that's what I need to keep me going. I want my boys to have me in their lives when they get married and have kids and I want to be there when my grandkids have kids... you get the idea! I'm 38 years old... and I want at least 40 more years, and then some!!!! Anyway.. that's my motivation.. do or die!
