Ugh.. according to my bodybugg I burned 3053 calories today... I have only eaten 1634... that leaves me with a 1419 calorie defecit instead of 1000... and it's bed time...

So is this something you get used to... it just seems like so much to eat and still lose weight???

I am a 24 Hr Fitness personal trainee who logs in my food with the bodybugg system. I didn't get the calorie counter because my trainer was honest and told me that they are only 80-85% true to what you've really burned and it's best to simply count your heart rate yourself. Regardless of this, It is best to have your daily food calories and stick with that. Anything burned in addition will simply aid in your weightloss goal. I don't know where you're set on your caloric intake levels, but he put me at 1550 to start with and i'm 5'4" 218lbs and 32. It's important to know where your protein, fat, sodium, fiber, etc should be set in addition to your calories. If you are using the bodybugg in addition to a program with 24 Hour fitness you should probably discuss it with a trainer there. They will be able to give you better insight. Good luck.

Well.. now the calories have come way down... im assuming.. maybe I need to just use it for a week and see if there are big differences everyday.. hmph???
  • The BodyBugg is tricky - I've had it majorly underreport my burn before and I was told it was because I had it too loose on my arm. An overly-high report might be because it's too tight, following that logic.

For the most part, I find it to be very steady in it's reporting, at about 2100 a day (if I don't exercise), which is what MFP calculated as my BMR. I wish it was waterproof though, because half of my exercise is water aerobics and I feel like I'm working a lot harder than the calorie burn MFP gives me for it.

    Pretty sure a 35 year old woman doesn't burn 3000+ calories a day unless you're running a marathon ;)

I have also heard the BBs are grossly inaccurate, especially for people not that active (not sure how active you are).

I am 5'3" 108 pounds and eat around 1800 cals a day (maintenance) and I am very active. So I'd stick to around 1500-ish depending on your activity level.
