For the past 2 days, when I breathe in through my nose, I make a "squeak" sound...

It's REALLLYYYY annoying!!!!!!

LOL...I really don't know what to say about that. I bet you're losing weight in your nostrils and it just can't take it. I'm so sorry but that's my only explanation! Good job! LOL

I know the sound... Happens when I have a stuffy nose from allergies, or a cold. I soooo empathize with you. It is SOO completely annoying, because I don't want to breath through my mouth and get called a mouth breather, but breathing through my nose annoys the hell outta me.

Is this the 'I find it annoying when....' thread? LOL If not I'll make it one!

I find it annoying when....I go into a skinny girl store in the mall and the clerk looks at me with wide eyes like What in the world is SHE doing in here?

I remember in high school a girl sitting behind me made the most obnoxious breathing noises...I think it was she was the original mouth breather/squeaker/snorter....GAWWWWWWW.....I almost went nuts. I wanted to turn around and knock her squeak-a-torium head off her shoulders. Went to Catholic School, pretty sure they would have frowned on that....

sounds like you need to use some vics inhailers. this will help to open up your nasel pathways and make you sound much quiter. I would also put menthaladom up you nose for a few nights. THis is what i do when i have htis problem. I hate squeeky nose.

The WORST is when your sleeping fiance next to you has a case of the "squeaks"!

I swear by Affrin, it clears up my congestion in a matter of minutes! Netti Pots are good too, but it is weird...
    Good luck!

Yes, I used to use Affrin all the time...but every time I would use it I would get addicted to it resulting in excess use which then turns into a rebound effect and the stuffiness is WORSE!!!

I use it very very sparingly! My pharmacist mentioned you could "get addicted" to it. So I only use for maybe a day or two, no more than once a day. Just enough to sound normal and breathe at night :(

Sorry...this cracked me up. LOL! But I do have advice even though I'm giggling. :) What about trying just a simple Saline spray? That will add moisture back in and make your body not want to make more crap that plugs up your sinus? It'll help with the swelling somewhat too? I have allergies way bad and find that it does help. A Nettie Pot would help, too. Moisture is a key.
  • They do work, but it isn't recommended when one is congested. It will make your head hurt from too much pressure. I tried it before. Hope that you feel better. Vics will help.
