Finding an interesting trend

I'm not sure if it's just me or what. I have found that I burn more calories when I exercise in the morning compared to the afternoon. I do the same workout with a HRM. I don't know if there is an explanation for this or what. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have done the same thing as you. Same workout with a HRM. For me, it was actually the opposite. I burned more calories in the evening. I don't think I am awake enough to have the same intensity in the morning.

I agree I can't workout in the mornings. I am a slow waker-uper. :) The afternoons are perfect for me!

Your metabolism is fastest in the morning! It slows noticably over the course of the day-which is also why experts suggest eating the bulk of your calories earlier in the day, rather than saving until supper. Even tho a calorie is a calorie, fats and nutrients are stored and digested differently depending on what time of day you eat them (a fatty breakfast will be digested and worked off, a fatty supper will result in more fat storage).

You are a morning person!! So am I -- even though I don't feel like it sometimes -- I have more energy and workout harder before work than I do after work. Funny thing is I walk faster later in the day than I do early in the day.
