as rants go, this one will be pretty mild I think. But if you don't like it, tough for you, I don't care, it's how I feel.

OK, Can I just say I HATE HATE HATE when people read the original post of a thread, then comment waaaaay down the thread without reading any other comments.

If you don't want to read, or at least skim for content, the whole thread, fine, but don't comment if you don't know the whole conversation. More often than not you're just repeating something someone else said. Either that or you're not reading any changes, retractions, or reverses that might have been posted. In my many long years as a Computer guru, this has always been and always will be considered bad netiquette!

Side note, I also hate when people walk into another conversation half way through and comment on it. this is essentially the same thing, and it's kind of a pet peeve of mine.

That's funny! I remember a week or so ago when someone decided that they had debunked starvation mode as a myth because they linked a study performed 25 years ago on 6 men over a 60 hour period. Ironically the study showed that their metabolism had started to decrease even within such a short time period, but the OP read into it what he wanted and decided that it was the be all and end all of eating back exercise calories.

So it didn't take long for people who had been looking for confirmation that their consumation of 1000 calories minus 800 calories of exercise per day was completely healthy, so they started thanking the OP. Then people actually clicked on and read the study and called out the lack of research/proof. The thread went two or three pages, most of which were people STILL thanking the OP even after multiple people indicated that six men 25 years ago over less than a holiday weekend is NOT proof, and if it were, his link PROVED the opposite of what his thread title indicated, so not only were people not reading the thread, they didn't even bother to read the link before thanking the OP.

    Very frustrating stuff.

some dude thanked him again today, I threw up my hands at my computer, literally. Those are the same people that read that one horrible article that misquoted the Minnesota starvation experiment like 5 times and say SEE you don't enter starvation mode until you have 5% body fat!!! Which is totally wrong, and not what the study said at all (that reporter was a joke). That guy also interchanged the term starvation with the term starvation mode like 3 times in his article, which made me want to reach through the computer and strangle him.

Hey it's a rant, I can express anger, right?

I have a question for you. Should I eat back my exercise calories?

I completely agree with you on this! It's annoying and frustrating. I have even stopped reading a lot of the threads on the posts due to this. It is a VERY good way to become confused and misinformed in a very short time.

Well, thanks SHBoss1673 for always trying to educate people! I sometimes try to educate people but it just seems like sometimes people only want to hear what they agree with.

I understand where you are coming from SHBoss; I think maybe the way the "thread" is laid out perhaps some who wish to reply are not following the posts accurately enough and know who it is they are replying too?

I figured out why I'm overweight! The shampoo I use in the shower that runs down my body says "for extra volume and body". So from now on I'm gonna start using"Dawn" dish soap. It says, "it dissolves fat that is otherwise difficult to remove.
But should I eat my exercise calories too?

( I just had to post it here also?
