This is a question that I wanted to ask, its about my dad. He is a diabetic and recently he got hurt and lost weight, and it looks bad on him( hes really skinny, but has a beer belly, which actually shrunk.) But I wanted to help him gain weight, and ive never tried to gain weight and the only thing I know about gaining weight is that you should eat more of the food group that is bread, cereal, pasta, ect. The problem is b/c he is diabetic, he cant really eat alot of carbs or his sugar will go up. Any advice on how he can gain without affecting his sugar?

As a diabetic myself, I HIGHLY suggest that any attempt to either gain or loss weight by a diabetic should be done in the care and oversight of a doctor. There is just too much that can go really wrong when you're diabetic.

Sorry to hear about your, dad, and hope everything works out.

Shorerider is absolutely right on the money, talk to your father's doctor. I'l bet that he/she has a meal plan that he could fax or mail to you. Diabetes can be such a complicated disease. I hope he gets to feeling better and gains some weight soon!
