Heres a little about me. Im 22, 5 ft 6 and weigh 218 pounds. I work as a CNA, which is VERY physically challenging. ( i started this job 3 weeks ago) I eat healthy, and get tons of exercise.. yet im losing weight at a snails pace. I go to the gym whenever I can, drink tons of water and still, its so discouraging. I have lost about 8 inches total off my waist and hips in the past 2 months, but the scale only shows about a 15 lb loss in 3 months. Is this normal? Everyone says i dont look my weight, but i know i do and cant help but be discouraged
I guess what the point of this post is, does anyone have similar results? Is it possible to get Toned without losing weight? Thanks ladies

5 lbs in a month is good steady healthy pace. As you exercise and increase muscle mass, the muscle weighs more than the same volume of fat. so sounds like you are on track by me. ( I am by far no expert, just experienced-smile)0

You're averaging 5 pounds a month, which is definitely the 'healthy' way of losing weight. Dont forget, if you go to the gym, you can be burning fat, but gaining muscle (which will keep your scale from showing your weight loss).0

That's not a snails pace. That's a good, healthy weightloss pace. 4-6 lbs a month. (Less for some of us). Be happy with your sucess and keep at it. You are doing everything right and you are seeing the right results.0

15 lbs in 12 weeks is a little more than a pound a week. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs weekly. Focus more on the 8 inches off your waist and hips than on the number on the scale. You are doing a great job!! Keep doing what you are doing and I have no doubt that you will reach all your goals.0

8 inches speaks volumes more than 15lbs. Good job!! You are doing just fine0

YES!! The scale can not account for inches lost. Go by how your clothes fit and just use the number on the scale to keep your self in line. It took me forever to get this thru my own head but once I did I felt better  don't get me wrong some days I just get really mad at what the scale says. And remember musclue weighs more than fat!!!!0

15 pounds in 3 months is fantastic!! I have over 120 pounds to lose. My goal is to lose 5 pounds each months. Since I started last July, some months have been more (8 pounds); others less (3 pounds). I have a long way to go and taking it slowly will allow me to lose the weight in a healthy manner and allow me to incorporate permanent lifestyle changes.
Unfortunately shows like the Biggest Loser create poor examples of what real weight loss looks like. Don't use them as a role model.
Stay on your journey. You will not regret this. And most importantly, find a way to get healthy by developing habits you will maintain for the rest of your life.
Good luck!0 -
It will come off but the inches your losing is really good, I would rather have my pants size go down than my scale number lol but i would say keep doing what your doing and it will come off and you'll feel better and have more energy since your doing everything right good luck0

It can be so frustrating at times. But think of it this way, A non-scale victory is just as important as watching the number drop- (Granted we all LOVE to see the scale move) But think of all the positive things you are doing for yourself! Some months will definitely be better than others, but before you know it you will reach your goal.0

You dont want to lose the weight to fast! 5lbs a month is good...and they were right, you don't look like you weigh that much. Just watch the Sodium and that makes a big difference I have found..try and stay close to the 2500 daily intake on that, because lots of things you think wouldn't be high in sodium are0

I have gone through the same thing recently. The weight is starting to come off again but I went like a month without almost losing anything even though I was working out 5 days a week and eating healthy 99% of the time. You are probably just toning up and the weight loss will follow. Our bodies do funny things like that. No matter what, don't give up! It will show if you keep trying!0
