So I reached my goal... but now what do I do? It's only been 51 days and I don't know what to do next. I think if I stop I will go back to my old ways... thoughts??

Build strength or endurance if you need to have a task

If only I were skinnier, I would.....

I guess just fill in the blank!

Train for a race? 5k or half marathon?

Do your research, have fun shopping and slowly and as cheaply as possible replace the items in your closet that are too big. Then donate your clothes to worthy causes.

Take up new fitness hobby - yoga, pilates, tennis, meditation?

OR take time to relax and ENJOY - like the Italians say, 'the pleasure of doing NOTHING.'

see how you go at maintaining for a month or so, why not set a fitness goal such as a 5k or something that is not weight loss related x
  • First off, congratulations on meeting your goal weight!!!!! Have you thought about switching your goals in MFP to maintenance calories that way you can stay calorically on target? Also, look at it as an opportunity to build muscle and increase endurance. Maybe keeping an exercise journal and see how you progress by increasing reps and duration. Try new exercises that you were maybe intimidated to do before. There are just so many possibilities! Good luck!

use the maintenance option on here....it will help you stay on track since you have only been at it for 52 days until you get used to eating and living for the new you. oh yeah, and.....CONGRATS!!!!

Change your goals to maintain and keep on logging on!

    Congrats!
  • Congratulations! What about checking your body fat percentage. I know most people don't measure that, but the lower your body fat %, the leaner you look.

Either maintain or experiment with alternative goals. Challenge yourself to see if you can maintain a healthy lifestyle for as long as you want. I don't think meeting the goal should stop the healthy choices you've learned to incorporate into your life. Unless of course you find joy in losing weight, like I do, then I purposely gain just to lose it again. But with the ulterior motive for more muscle mass and body fat reduction.

I second this, body fat % is such a great piece of information to know!

    First of all, Congratulations!

I reached my goal at the end of November, 2010. Since then I've had two vacations totalling 3.5 weeks and ate whatever I wanted. I still exercised some. I probably gained 5 lbs during that process. The rest of the time I really worked on toning (both cardio and weightlifting. It's taken me 3 months (- the 3.5 weeks) to gain any weight for a week. I gained 2.2 lbs last week and I know it wasn't from over-eating. It could be muscle or water (from too much sodium - averaged 2,615mg last week). I'm going with the muscle. I'll see this Saturday because I've been more careful about the sodium this week.

I'm now 10 lbs below my goal weight. So I'm still learning how to maintain. I expect you'll experience the same issue.
