Small Success

I'm new to MFP, so please excuse me if this is in the wrong place. I've only been tracking and working out for 3 days, but I'm serious about losing the fat and pounds that keep me from feeling good about myself.
So, my small success is that I did my workout tonight, and I even upped the intensity level. I know that doesn't seem like a big deal to a lot of you, but today it was. I'm tired today. I stayed up later than I should have last night and could have used a couple more hours of sleep. I had to go home after work, before heading to the gym, and boy did one side of my brain try to convince me to just stay home. My legs are sore and feel like they each weigh a ton. My feet hurt because I wore the wrong shoes the past 2 days to work out and didn't have the support I need. My husband is home tonight and I'd really rather spend time with him than any place else. Like I said, part of my brain was giving me all sorts of excuses to stay home. I trudged on in to "town" and made my way to the gym. As I started walking, I chose a higher intensity than I had been using. About 10 minutes in, I felt like I should be halfway done. I decided then that instead of doing an hour, I would just do 30 minutes. After all, who could blame a tired, sore, achy woman for taking it a little easier just this once. But I didn't quit at 30 minutes. I talked to myself and said "Come on, all you have to do is what you've just done. You can do it. Think how much better you'll feel mentally if you finish". So I did. The full hour. No letting up, no taking it easy.
I know that is a really small success story and probably not what most people would be too excited about. As someone who has started and stopped working out as many times as I have, it's a pretty big deal.
Celebrate every success, every day. You can't get to the big successes without the small ones.

I think that's fantastic! It's definitely a worthy success story. I know exactly how you feel, and I say some of the same things to myself when I'm trying for just another five minutes on the elliptical.
We can do it!0 -
Way to go! I too, forced myself to work out today. Not once, but twice. I worked out after school, and then I forced myself to go back down to the gym instead of taking a nap. Every little bit helps! Be proud of your accomplishments.0

No success is small and dont minimize any accomplishment especially when it was done at the end of a long day. Well done!!0
