Which Burned Calorie Counter is most accurate..... the ones on the cardio equip or here on MFP? or are you supposed to enter in the calories burned from the cardio equip onto MFP.

Get an HRM, because neither is MFP or the equipment is completely accurate.

MFP is always over for my elliptical workouts, as is the machine.

MFP is always under for my treadmill runs, but the machine is over.

MFP is sorta close to my stationary bike rides, but the machine is never close to either (either low or high depending on if it's the recumbant at my apartment fitness center or the upright at the gym)

If the machine allows you to enter your age and weight, then go with the machine. THe suggested numbers on MFP are VERY inflated, compared to the machines I use combined with my HRM.

I thought MFP were a bit high but i see other peoples post and thought it might be correct.
darn it though...i thought i was doing really good ... :grumble:
so i guess i estimate a good in between number until i get an HRM
  • A heart rate monitor is the accurate way.

one that will give your your Heart Rate, let you set min and max HR zones, and give you calories burned will run you about $70,
If you are working out in a gym you need to get one that is "coded" like the Polar FT4.

I enter age and weight into all the machines I use, they still aren't accurate. :\
