I keep reading about HRMs. What are they? What do they do? Would it work for someone in a wheelchair? I'm new to this whole working out thing, lol. Thanks!

Heart Rate Monitor. Measures heart rate and many, but not all, measure the number of calories burned. Accurate HRMs include a chest strap that you wear around your chest, just under the breasts. The chest strap (transmitter) sends information to a receiver, which is usually a watch you wear on your wrist. It's not mandatory to wear the watch on your wrist but it must be located within 6ft. of the chest strap. So you could strap the watch around a bicycle handlebar or a treadmill.
There is a difference in heart rate monitors used for medical purposes and those used for fitness.0 -
Thanks! It sounds like something I could use while wheeling around my neighborhood.0
