I feel terrible watching other peoples misery but i use it as a motivational tool.

Take today for example, i had a hangover & gave into my carb cravings big time. I was so angry with myself after working so hard. So now i'm eatching a programme about morbidly obese people (and i feel bad for doing it) to remind myself while i started this lifestyle change & what will happen if i keep eating this rubbish.

I hope i have'nt offended anyone

*just to add i also watch 'how clean is your house' to make me feel bad .about not doing housework. I thonk it's some strange thing i need to do*

It's not wrong to watch those. That's your perogative, not to mention your motivation. Don't let someone else take away your motivation. And I'm pretty sure that the show is there to help motivate others, not make them look bad. They're simply saying this is what will happen if you don't get control. And since you're trying to maintain control, it's perfect.

    But that's my opinion...

I watch Heavy every week, and it really keeps me on track. I believe those individuals want their story to be heard and motivate others, or they wouldn't have agreed to be on television.

I don't think so. However you can motivate yourself do it. I'm the same way. I watch the biggest loser and when I see how big they are it motivates me to keep going. Not only that, but seeing them walking, running, working out and being able to do so much with so much weight gives me NO excuse at all not to be able to workout. I think about that when I'm exercising and it really helps me give that extra effort.

I dont think its wrong at all, its important to learn from other people... so if you look at it that way it doesn't sound like you are taking some sort of joy out of their misery

idk about it being wrong, but i use those shows as motivation :o) when i'm being lazy, sitting in front of the tv, thinking i will just work out tomorrow extra long or that today was a good food day, so i can skip it- seeing those shows reminds me that i can and should be working out & if they can do it, so can i! Jillian Michaels' reminds me too baha during her 30 Day Shred, she tells us that she knows 400 pound people who can do some of these moves & that keeps me moving even if i'm swearing at her & dieing through some parts :o)
