Yet another lurker finally coming forward

Greetings all!
I've been using MFP since two of my sis-in-laws and I decided that perhaps we could help each other "be more accountable" for what we were eating. One of them was already using MFP off and on and suggested we use the site versus sending emails back and forth to one another. So... at the end of January I buckled down and created an account.
I recently (okay September 2010 isn't recent to some) turned 40 and I finally decided it was time to take a little ME time back. I've been married for almost 11 years and have two wonderful kids (7 yr girl and 5 yr boy). I'm a systems engineer by trade (yes, geek... go me), and between work, traffic and kid activities, there never seemed to be time in the day to sneak exercise in. Well, I have to admit... both my husband and I are notorious gamers (recovering EQ addicts... which was traded in for WoW but not nearly at the same intensity level).
Little free time + On-line computer games + Not paying attention to portion sizes + Hitting the big 4 - 0 = Time to put up or shut up
I'm trying to lose about 22 lbs altogether, and have lost 7 so far in the month of February. I'm not sure yet what my final goal weight will be because while I'm short (I'm 4'11.5" - 5' with my hair poofed!) I'm not exactly petite. But 22 lbs will get me to my pre-baby weight... after that, it will depend on if I can keep my activity level up like I've managed to do this month.
Anyway... I just wanted to step forward, say hey and looking forward to learning more from the community here.

Welcome!
I sooo agree with your equation! Add in A LOT of 'mommy guilt' and my nice round number is 30 as of January. On top of the mommy guilt, I kept eating my disappointment of not being pregnant with baby #2. January was a turning point, I'm over all of it. I'm esp over not fitting in clothes well! Good luck in your journey!0 -
Oooooh, don't get me started on Mommy guilt. I had to do the whole "cone of silence is coming down on Mommy" thing last week when I was on the elliptical. *still feels bad remembering it*0
