Hey everyone ,
I have been asked to join a group of ladies to train up to do a 100k walk/run in 30 hrs for a charity i really really want to do this and i am a big walker already but would like your guys input in what to eat to help me train and what to start of with walking wise already some days i do between 5 and 9 miles i understand this is no where near 100k what so ever and need to build myself up , so will be training as much as i possible can to get myself ready ......well as ready as i ever can be.
I also have one issue i had a car accident a while ago and need treatment on my back just some physiotherapy but it need to be done , do you think this will hinder my walking , sometimes my back still stings after i have done a hilly walk but it does seem to be getting better .
I really really want to do this walk but also I'm over weight still and I'm worried i will hold others back even though i know my walking is at a good pace .

I would give you advice for what you need to do if I had an answer for you. The best I can offer is to ask the ladies who have asked you to join them in this walk/run, maybe they would have some useful advice - since they should also be training. Or perhaps if no one on here has sufficient advice, would it be possible to find a personal trainer in your area who could advise you on a training schedule to further prepare you? The 5-9 miles is a great achievement as it is. If you're determined enough to do that, then you should be determined enough to push yourself slightly further each time you go out in order to build your endurance (at least that would be my guess at a bit of self-training).
As far as your back is concerned, if it is giving you concerns now you probably should go see a spine doctor if you haven't already. I'll spare you the long story of my back injury & slew of treatments... short story: don't ignore the pain. Find out what exactly is causing it and get the proper treatments before it's to the point where you can't tolerate it.
As far as holding others back, if it is for charity then it shouldn't be about competition unless you want it to be about competition. I've done the March of Dimes Walk America fundraiser in the past, if there was any competition involved in the walk part, it was on the individual basis. Remember, it's for charity and proving to yourself that you can do it, not about proving to anyone else that you can.
