I'm really frustrated with MFP's 24 g. of sugar a day "limit". I'm a sugar addict, I know this. I eat way too much sugar in general... BUT only 24 grams?! Is that right?! My clif bar I eat for breakfast has 20 g. alone!! And fruit!! a BANANA has 24 grams alone!!! If I eat both together for breakfast that puts me at 44 g. aka 20 grams over before 8am lol!!! What gives?!

I just had a yougurt granola bar for breakfast and a peach. Im done for the day also. I'm also addicted to sugar. I'm thinking that I'm not going to worry about the fruit so much

Switch to the Pure Protein bars... I think they're sugar count is only like 6 or 7g and they taste good. I love the peanut butter chocolate.

I tend not to worry too much about sugars from milk & fruit, but do pay attention to the sugars that come refined or from processed sources. Those are the ones to watch. Cutting sugar for me has meant a flatter tummy, fewer cravings and surprisingly, more energy!

I don't sweat going over on my sugar if it's due to "good sugars" like fruit.

Don't count your sugars from natural sources like fruits and vegetables. As it was already mentioned, only pay attention to refined and processed sugars.

I only count added sugar under that number. Natural sugars can go towards your carb numbers (you can gain weight eating a lot of fruit but natural sugars don't spike your bloodsugar levels the way added sugars do). But you do get to learn just how nutritious a lot of those bars are. Even the granola bars, fiber one bars, all of those are the same way. They have some health benefits to them but the sugar content is so high it makes you wonder if they are really worth it. That 20g is a lot more than a bowl of sugar cereal.

And do some research on the different sugars. You might think some are better - like organic sugar or raw sugar compared to table sugar. Not a big enough difference in nutrition to make a difference.

Thank goodness! I was looking at those sugar numbers myself and fuming. I was told to eat your fruits first thing in the morning and then I realized that I was done before 10am even rolled around.

You can feel free to go over 24g if what you're eating is fruit....but anything else, ESPECIALLY "energy bars" you are limited to 24g. Refined Sugar screws up your system, and a lot of "health" products are full of it!
