Well, I have had a much better day today - my sick kiddos went back to school and I got out for a long run and have stayed on track with my eating - I may even be a good bit under today, but that's OK, since I was a good bit over yesterday.
Thanks to all the kind comments yesterday when I was having a difficult day staying with it!

I have made an observation and I think it just may change things for me...all this time, I've eaten under calories and eaten good, nutricious food most of the time, but there have been 3 instances lately that have made me realize that eating bad food makes me gain, even if I stay within my calorie range. The first was the week after Christmas, then the week after Valentines day, then yesterday (actually most of this week, as I've been stuck in the house all week). All three of those times, I've stayed within calorie range for the most part, but eaten some crap along with my mostly healthy diet (i.e. the evil Valentines cookie cake and yesterday, the evil Toffee for the school bake sale (and the almonds I ate, trying to avoid eating the toffee). All three times I've gained weight. I don't think it is water weight, because it doesn't come off fast...it takes me a week or more to get the weight off. This time it was 3 pounds between weigh in Tuesday morning and this morning.

I know by the book, it isn't possible to gain weight if you are eating within your calorie limit, but for me, it seems to make a huge difference WHAT I eat, not just how much. I think now that I've realized this, I may think harder before biting into that candy.
