spotters for bench press

I have a question, When I am working out with my trainer, and doing an exercise like a bench press I am amazed what I can do. It seems that if she even has her fingers lightly on the bar it weighs 15 lbs lighter than without her spotting me. She says it is all mental, is it? It just doesn't seem right . . .

A lot of is about confidence.
I came back from an injury and have only been lifting for about 2 months now. I'm back to 100 pound squats but I'm sure there's more in those legs if I had someone to spot me.
My gym manager just offered to spot me yesterday after we discussed this so will see.0 -
It's amazing what a person is capable of once the fear is removed.0
