ChaLean Extreme or Jillian Michaels DVDs?

Hi everyone! In the summer I'm not going to be able to hit the gym like I do now since the kids will be home, so I'm thinking about getting some exercise videos to help out during that time. I've heard a lot of good things about both Chalean's programs and the 30 day shred and other Jillian Michael's dvds.

I know that there is a big cost difference b/t the two, but cost aside, I need something that will SERIOUSLY kick my butt, give good calorie burns, and also give me effective strength training. I don't have a lot of weight to lose, and I'm working on my muscle tone/strength more than anything now. I do pretty hard workouts daily (cardio and strength), and I'm worried that I'll lose what I've gained, and I don't want that to happen.

So I'm looking for recommendations from you all who've tried this programs - pros, cons, what worked, what didn't. Thanks so much for your input!

I just finished day 36 of ChaLEAN Extreme and I LOVE it! I can't wait to see where I am at day 90! I lost 7' overall in the first 30 days. You can see my calorie burn from the workouts on my profile. I wear a HRM to make sure I get an accurate count. Feel free to add me as a friend

Omg I'm glad I saw this post! I would totally reccomend anything from chalene,if you wanna get the same challenge and results as a gym. Plus its so so much fun, I teach her formats at gyms in my area and its like one big cardio party. And I have lost 25lbs since trying her formats. And its not all cardio it incorporates strength training which is totally important when wanting to get the toned defined look. If u have any questions feel free to ask or check out my page http://www.facebook.com/Burns2bBeautiful?m2w
I have an online store u can check out too:-)

Thanks Irene and Jenny! It sounds like a lot of people really like Chalean a lot. I wonder too about cost of equipment for both. I do have some weights, mats, etc, but I'd prob. need some more, I'm guessing.

    Hey,

I don't have any experience of Chalean but I do of Jillian Michaels. I did the 30 day shred and lost 12.5 inches. I am now doing her other dvd's on rotation, and will be starting her 30 day slimdown on Monday.
I was a beginner to exercise though but she's changed my whole body shape. I have lots of friends who have much better fitness levels and run marathons etc etc and they still find the workouts tough....but not as tough as I do. I suppose what i'm trying to say is maybe it depends on your current fitness levels.
Are you American? I have heard a few americans on here talk about cable on demand? exercise tv where you can get jillian michaels routines for free. Why don't you do that or look on youtube to see if you think if they are challenging enough for you and if now then maybe Chalean will be the better option for you.

I have rambled a bit but I hope you understand what I mean! ;)
    xx

Thanks hofficoffi! That's a great idea, to try OnDemand first. We have that, so I can do that.

I just started out this week and I have OnDemand too. I absolutely love Jillian Michaels. If you are already toned and want to stay tone, you can follow the girl that does the advance modification of exercises. So far I have been doing Jillian Michaels' Shred, 6 pack Abs, and to add some fun in I do the Bellydancing that's available on OnDemand. I just started on Monday and lost 6 pounds already. Good luck on losing the last little bit and staying toned.

I love Jillian Michaels videos. My favorite is No more trouble zones...it really works every area of your body!
